TAKE AWAYS FROM BACK TO SCHOOL NIGHT
It was wonderful to see so many parents at our Back to School Night event this week. We are grateful for your interest and involvement and hope you found the evening informative. Please know that our curriculum and instruction are research-based best practices from the latest studies in our field. We welcome any questions you may have and will have several opportunities for you to hear ways to support your child in this exciting adventure.
We know that your involvement and high expectations for academic success are the most important variables in the equation. Hopefully, those of you with multiple children at our school recognized some common themes between all of our classrooms. Our staff hopes for the following from you:
- Be present for your child - at home and at school; be an attentive listener and a steadfast cheerleader
- Model what you expect and reinforce school norms (respect, responsibility, resilience)
- Set your child up for success (enough sleep, enough food, enough water, appropriate clothing and materials & a positive attitude).
- Preserve a love for learning- your child works hard all day so don't worry about adding hours of work at home; when school is over, provide some downtime and physical activity
- Remember that you are your child's most important teacher- share your family story, explore new places, learn to build things together, play, cook healthy meals with your child model a learning life.
Please feel free to contact your child's teacher should you have any questions regarding your child's classroom routines, curriculum or expectations.
5th - 8th Grade Parents
Email communications continue to be challenging for us. Please follow these steps to reduce miscommunications and frustration:
1) Email teachers/staff directly - email addresses for all of our staff members are listed on our website (www.sigsbee.org>Our Staff). Use these addresses to email staff members directly from your personal email.
2) Stop using Jupiter Ed to contact 5th-8th grade teachers
3) Can't use Focus (yet) either - the District IT staff tried to get this feature working for us, but was unsuccessful. It has been referred to Focus for resolution.
Notice will be provided in The Scoop when our email woes are resolved. As always, we appreciate your patience and resilience!
