COFFEE CLATCH FOR PARENTSWhen Sophie Thinks She Can”t
May 22nd 8:00-9:15 AM

People with a growth mindset believe that success can result from effort and effective strategies.  When children are taught that we all have malleable intelligence and can "grow our brains” by forming new neural pathways, they become willing to struggle and persist with challenging tasks.  Children who are taught ways to develop growth mindset are more engaged and persistent in responding to challenges. Summertime reading and writing with the right mindset can be a great experience. May 22 Coffee Clatch will be focused on the language parents can use to grow and develop growth mindset.

A note from the PTO President:
Please keep in mind the PTO puts on the Middle School Dances, the Talent Show, Movie Nights, the Sailfish Shuffle and the Spring Fling. Because of the PTO and the monies made from the Island Affair Silent Auction, the cost of field trips for each student was either drastically reduced or free. The PTO provides snacks for the stressful FSAs and monthly gifts of appreciation for all staff members. There are countless other acts of kindness throughout the year that allow our children to thrive in such an enriching atmosphere. However, none of this is possible without volunteers. The Parent Teacher Organization is just that: parents and guardians working with the teachers to provide the best educational environment possible. These kids are our future. These kids of ours are amazing and they deserve the best! If you would like to be a part of this team and make a difference, then please come to the meeting on Tuesday.
