OFFICER DANTU'S BIRTHDAY

&  COFFEE with A COP DAY

The stars have aligned and National Coffee with a Cop Day falls on our SRO's birthday!  Officer Nick has been a wonderful role model for our students and takes time everyday to talk to them about their personal safety and the safety of others.  We have kept him extremely busy in his efforts to keeping up safe and he still returns each day with a smile on his face (under his buff).  Please help us celebrate Officer Dantu's birthday by bringing him a K Cup, a birthday card,  or a giftcard for a cup of coffee on Wednesday.

HELPING HANDS (NOT DEVIOUS ONES)

TIk Tok Warning

It is unfortunate that this post needs to be added to our Scoop.  The  October Tik Tok Devious Lick challenge is a dangerous one.  It challenges students to smack a staff member during the month of October and record the incident.  At a time when educators are already dealing with additional challenges (Covid protocols, backfilling learning gaps, a diminished workforce, re-establishing appropriate school behavior), this challenge threatens the very culture we've worked so hard to create.  Dealing with the few incidents we've seen from this challenge in September took valuable time away from other positive and important items that needed attention.

Sigsbee Charter School, along with the Monroe County School District, will pursue any incident of physical aggression toward a staff member to the fullest extent of the law.  Please talk to your children about this challenge immediately so that they are not drawn into a situation that has serious long-term consequences for them.

October Anti-Devious Lick Challenge
Do something helpful for your teacher
In true Sigsbee style, we will be fighting against irresponsible and disrespectful behavior by creating a more positive solution.  In October, we are encouraging students to use their hands in a helpful manner.  Students will be making month-long pledges in class and "helping hands" wreaths will display their commitment to the staff.  Please take time to talk with your children about something they can do to be helpful to a teacher.

Learn more about how Tik Tok works and things parents should be aware about by clicking HERE. Be aware that Tik Tok also contains the ability for messaging to occur between followers.  It is extremely important that you are monitoring your student's use of this app; it is much more than a storehouse of videos.
