Sigsbee Scoop 2016-2017: WEEK 1 (August 17-August 19)

THE SIGSBEE SCOOP 2016-2017
Week 1:  August 17-August 29

WEEK IN REVIEW
Thank you for sharing your children with us.  We enjoyed establishing routines and hearing about adventurous summer journeys.  As we enter our first full week of school, please help us practice expectations and procedures at home.  Make sure your child is arriving between 7:45-8:00 AM with a backpack, lunch (if not buying lunch) and a filled, reusable water bottle. Remember that front lot dismissal is for children in K-2 and their older siblings while the back lot is for grades 3-8.  You should be receiving JupiterEd emails at this point.  If you have not seen anything in your inbox, please contact Mrs. Rosch (Leslie.Rosch@sigsbee.org)

Thank you for your patience with traffic.  We've already contacted DOT about the left turn arrow on Roosevelt and are working with the Navy to ensure that car line is moving and walkers/bikers are still safe.

The Sigsbee Scoop is being upgraded to a blog this year.  Please be sure to read it every week. This is our centralized communication site for important information and details about upcoming events.  Captions under each picture will give you more information about your child's educational journey.  Be sure to check out our first day video, if you have not already.

Our new bottle fillers are a big hit with our environmentalists.  Make sure your child has a refillable water bottle so that you can be a part of our campaign to eliminate disposable water bottles.  We've already cut our use by the hundreds with kindergarten paving the way.  ALL of our kindergarten students brought a bottle to lunch on Friday!

Middle school students are already jumping into math, using manipulatives to solve complicated problems.  This week, all students will continue to learn the routines of each class.  Any middle school student who would like to request a change to his/her electives, should email Mrs. Jannes (eli.jannes@sigsbee.org) this weekend so that schedules can be altered.
There's nothing like the first days of kindergarten!  Our littlest ones were awesome, especially while practicing two fire drills this week.  One student told us that the alarm meant that the zombies were coming.  Don't worry, we have zombie extinguishers in every room!
Wednesday enrichment classes were filled over capacity for the first time.  Our staff is investigating ways to create more classes for those on the waiting list.  Look for a Jupiter email from Mrs. Kirk if you were placed on the waiting list.
