MEET THE TEACHER IS MONDAY MORNING!
We are looking forward to seeing you at Meet-The-Teacher Monday morning from 8:30-10:00 AM. During this time, children and parents will be able to greet their teachers and see their classrooms as well as take care of any paperwork that is needed.  Please remember to keep your children with you at all times as we still have construction going on around campus, especially near the library.

To expedite your visit, we recommend that K-4 parents Login to JupiterEd to see your child’s teachers and room assignments when they are announced on Sunday.  Fifth grade teachers will contact you with your child's homeroom teacher. Middle school teachers have students' schedules waiting for them onsite.

We are placing our final students who arrived this week so disseminating this information earlier is not possible.

The expectation for this event is that you will spend a few moments with your child’s teacher and then proceed to take care of any other needed items.  You do not need to spend the entire time onsite. If you sign-in at your child's classroom, you will receive one volunteer hour. You need only sign in once and only one parent needs to do so.

Class lists will be posted near the grade level rooms in the event that you forget the name or location of your child’s teacher.  General areas will house:

Front circle-
Copies of rosters and maps to help guide you around campus- with Mrs. Jannes, principal
Sign up for volunteer opportunity and help organize car pools- with Mrs. Stolze, PTO president

Library -
Car passes for those who sent in a copy of their license- with Ms. Faust & Mrs. Berces
*Important- if you have not sent in a copy of your license and need a car pass, please stop by the library FIRST so that we can start the process. We hope to have them done for you while you visit the classrooms- with Ms. Bartley & Mrs. Gladding

Cafeteria- New Family Orientation (10:00-10:45 AM)
Learn about important routines and procedures- with Mrs. Jannes, SCS principal

These classes will begin on the first day of school!
*Please note:  Kindergarten and first grade students signed up for enrichment will rotate between all of the classes at their grade level.  Classes are taught by the grade level support teacher.  Students in grades 2-5 will be making specific course selections.

Enrollment is not final until payment is received.

MIDDLE SCHOOL ELECTIVES
An elective survey was sent to seventh and eighth grade middle school students on Friday via email.  If you did not receive it, you may use this link to sign up for an elective.  Electives take place in the last 40 minutes of the day on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays.

To access the survey please click on:

We will talk about Wednesdays on our first day of school.   This is when you will have an opportunity to learn about new clubs and interscholastic teams.

SIXTH GRADERS-  All of you will start in a SPARK IC3/keyboarding elective.  You will be able to choose other electives once you certify out of this class.  We will explain all of this to you on Wednesday.  You do not need to sign up for an elective at this time.

FAQs for the first days of school

WHEN IS THE FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL?
The first day of school for students is Wednesday, August 16th.  School starts at 8:00 AM.  Since this is a Wednesday, dismissal is at 12:00 PM for K-5 and 2:00 PM for middle school.  Students who are participating in enrichment will begin their first class on that day and be dismissed at 2:00 PM.   Please remember that on Thursday, all students will be dismissed at 3:00 PM.

Students should NOT be on campus before 7:45 AM.  There is no supervision before that time and teachers are not available earlier than that.

HOW DO I GET A PASS?
Please remember that you do not have access to the base unless you are military affiliated.  Passes will be given to parents, guardians and those picking up children on a regular basis.  If you sent in a copy of your license, your pass(es) will be ready in the library during Meet-The-Teacher.  If you have not, please stop by the library as soon as you arrive and we will produce the pass as quickly as we can.

WHAT SCHOOL SUPPLIES DO I NEED?
Most initial school supplies are provided by the school so that families do not need to worry about finding specific items or incurring a large expense.  There are a few things we ask students to invest in, usually limited to a backpack or book bag (no wheels please), a refillable water bottle, a reusable lunch box, a pair of water shoes and headphones/ear buds.  Parents can find specific lists of requirements on the grade level website in addition to a list of wanted items for donations.  Middle school students will also need a combination lock.  Please make sure that all items are labeled with your child's first and last name.  Should you have a financial hardship, please contact Mrs. Jannes for assistance with supplies (Eli.jannes@sigsbee.org)

Supply lists are created for the grade level, not the teacher, so parents may start shopping before the student's teacher is identified.

WHAT ABOUT LUNCH?
We do not serve on Wednesdays so students staying for enrichment and middle schoolers should bring a lunch on the first day.  There is an option to purchase lunch on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays for $3.00/lunch.  This can be done via our PayPal site on our website or by sending money in with your child.

If you opt to send lunch with your child, please remember that it will not be refrigerated.  We strongly encourage you to pack a healthy lunch and water as a drink.  All lunches should be sent in with the children at arrival.  Classroom instruction will not be interrupted for lunch delivery.

Students may not share lunches or snacks in school.  Snack policies are posted on each grade level's website.

HOW DO I PICK UP MY CHILD AT THE BACK LOT? (grades 3-8 ONLY- no small children)

Please remember to drive carefully through the neighborhoods and be aware of children walking/riding bikes.  Failure to follow the required policies may result in your driving privileges being revoked on base.

WHAT ABOUT K-2 FRONT CARLINE?
Please do not arrive earlier that 2:45 PM as we need to get the MWR busses loaded first.  There is ONE line for front car line and teachers will direct you if you need to pull up.  There is NO passing in the front unless directed by a teacher.   Please have your child's dashboard name tag on the front driver's side dash so we can move quickly.  Children will be brought to your car and put in the passenger side.  Older siblings (grades 3-8) should come to the front courtyard and meet their siblings for front dismissal.  Middle school students get out 5 minutes later so please do not be first on car line if you are waiting for a middle schooler.  PLEASE do not leave your car unattended or take a child from the front courtyard without telling a teacher.  You are always welcome to park in the front lot and walk to pick up your child.

WHAT IF IT IS RAINING AT DISMISSAL?
It is common to experience short bursts of rain during the first few weeks of August and it seems like it is always about to rain at dismissal.  We will make every attempt to have regular dismissal and will wait until the last moment to decide how to dismiss the children so that we can expedite the process for parents.  However, if there is thunder and lightening or if it is raining hard, we will move to rainy day dismissal.  This means ALL students will dismiss from the front circle and be escorted to cars.

As you might imagine, rainy day dismissals delay the process.  Please be patient as we are trying to keep all of the students safe.  If you don't want to wait on carline, and would rather gather your child, please park in the parking lot and come to your child.  You must let the teacher know you are taking your child before leaving campus.  Please DO NOT park on the front circle and leave your vehicle unattended.

If someone else is picking up your child, please make sure he/she is on your pick up list or your child will not be released.

If your child normally walks or rides a bike home or to Youth, please be sure he/she is aware of your plan for a rainy day.  Walkers will not be released in heavy rain or lightening.  MWR does NOT transport Youth (ages 10 or older) but does transport students enrolled in their after care program.  Students will be permitted to use their cell phones during rainy dismissal to see how they are getting home.

During rainy day dismissal, ALL staff is involved in helping students.  The office will not relay messages after 2:40 PM.  Teachers are also engaged with students and cannot read emails late in the day.  Please do not change plans or rely on a message in these situations.

PLEASE BE SURE YOU'VE READ ALL OF OUR POLICIES ON OUR WEBSITE SO THAT YOU ARE INFORMED ABOUT IMPORTANT PROCEDURES.
