BACK TO SCHOOL NIGHT FOR PARENTS WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 29
5:30-7:00 PM Elementary School
5:15-6:45 PM Middle School
Childcare available

What is it? BTS night is intended for parents to listen to teacher presentations about expectations, routines and highlights of the year.  It is a time to ask questions to your child's teachers and hear about all the exciting things to come.  It is not appropriate to engage teachers in conversations about your child at this time.  Please save those discussions for parent-teacher conferences.

Do my kids attend? Students do not need to attend this event. If you are unable to find child care at home, you may bring your school-aged children for evening care.  Toddlers may stay with parents as long as they can stay quiet during the presentations.

What time is it?  There are two repeating presentations in the elementary grades (5:30 and 6:15 PM).  You can attend either presentation.  Parents who have multiple children will have an opportunity to visit two classroom presentations this way.

What if I have more than two students at the school?
Elementary classrooms: Teachers will be posting their presentations on their website.  You will be able to access the important information after the event.

Middle school classrooms:  Teachers will be grouped by grade level and available to answer questions from 5:15-6:45 PM.  They will send out the presentation ahead of time and be available throughout the evening to answer questions.

Do I get volunteer hours for attending?
Yes!  This is one of the most important evenings of the year.  Sign in at the classroom and get 1.5 hours of time/family.

How can I be a model student at BTS night?
Please arrive on time to listen to the formal presentations.  If your significant other or young child is being noisy during the presentation, please go into the hallway.  Ask questions. Leave a supportive note for your child to find the next day.  To be an A+ student, pick up your children from evening care as soon as the presentations are over so our teachers can get a good night's sleep.

Meet Officer Katy
If you've been on campus, you've seen this friendly face walking the property.  Office Katy is Sigsbee's new School Resource Officer and comes to us straight from the KWPD.  She will be onsite everyday while students are on campus.  All public schools in Florida are now mandated to implement the "Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School Safety Act."  While this Act provides some funding, it does not come close to covering the cost of the requirements, including a school-safe officer on campus.  Please read the message from Mr. Porter below and consider voting FOR the .0625 increased millage.  This will ensure that SCS funds do not have to be used, including this school year.

How's Your Driving?
Back lot parents of students in grades 3-8.

Please value the safety of all children, not just your own.  There have been several reported incidents of people passing cars dangerously, speeding through the neighborhood, or cutting through public property (Ibis Bay, the Marriott) to get ahead in car line.  A few minutes of patience will ensure that our children are safe and we are being respectful of our neighboring environment.  Below is the flow chart for traffic in the back lot.  Please be careful.

Also, students in K-2 should be dropped off in the front circle.  The back lot is reserved for upper grade students and does not have supervision for younger children.

*Failure to follow regulations could result in suspension of your base privileges .

We're Starting A Band!
We are pleased to welcome Mr. Hendricks to SCS.  Mr. Hendricks is an experienced music and instrumental teacher who will be starting a middle school band!  Students in grades 6-8 are invited to fill out this interest survey.  Fifth grade students with instrumental experience are also invited to participate should they qualify.  Click below to get us started:

Looking for Kayak Donations
We are looking to expand our fleet of ocean kayaks so that we can take more students out on the water.  If you, or someone you know, is interested in donating a new or used kayak, please email Mrs. Jannes (eli.Jannes@sigsbee.org).
