THANK YOU VOTERS!
We would like to thank the voters who voted 'yes' on the millage referendum increase last week.  The passing of the referendum means that the cost of our School Resource Officer (SRO) will be shared between the taxpayers instead of pulled from our school budget.  We are grateful for Officer Katy's presence at our school and even happier that her position will be guaranteed in the future.

SAVE THE DATE: THE PTO NEEDS YOU!
The first PTO meeting of the 2018-2019 school year is on Tuesday, September 11th at 5:30 PM.  Social time with snacks starts at 5:00 PM.  Come meet your PTO Board and let's discuss the exciting year we have planned for our kids!

ELEMENTARY CONFERENCES
Elementary  parent-teacher conferences are coming up soon.  If you did not have a chance to sign up for a conference during Back To School night, please contact your classroom teacher.  Fall conferences are an excellent opportunity for parents to share important information about their children.  The conference time allows teaches to describe each student's demonstrated level of performance at the start of the year; this information will be revisited at the end of third quarter, when parents can marvel at their child's performance growth.

Parents receive an hour of volunteer credit for every conference attended.  Please be sure you are included.  It is expected that all parents of students in grades K-4 will attend 2 conferences/year.  Parents of 5th-8th  grade students are welcome to request a conference at any time.  Performance information in the upper grades is typically communicated through the Focus gradebook.

FOCUS
Parents - The email feature of Focus is still not working, so please email teachers directly using their Sigsbee.org gmail accounts.  (Links are on our website under Staff Directory.)  We will happily notify you when this part of Focus is working.

CONGRATULATIONS MRS. BLESKE

Keys Federal Credit Union provided a $250 classroom sponsorship to Mrs. Bleske's sixth grade language arts classes.  Her name was drawn at the district's New Teacher Orientation.  Mrs. Bleske grew up in Key West and moved back this year, after 18 years away.  She's taught all around the globe and is bringing her life experiences to Sigsbee Middle School this year.
