IMPACT AID CARDS- IMPORTANT
Impact Aid cards will be distributed this week.  Returning these cards brings additional funds to our school.  Some misconceptions from years past:
1) Only military families need to complete the form - INCORRECT!  We need to receive a completed card for every student who was enrolled at Sigsbee as of Oct 7, 2019.
2) Only the enlisted member can sign the form - INCORRECT!  The spouse can also sign.
3) I'll complete the form based on today's information - INCORRECT!  Enter your housing address and employer information based on what it was on October 7, 2019.

Please return all cards signed and dated by Monday, October 21st and email/call the front office staff with any questions:

K-5 Wednesday Enrichment
Registration closes MONDAY, the 14th AT NOON

ASE Enrollment:  The enrollment period for Quarter 2 enrichment classes is now open and will close Monday, October 14th at noon.  Use this form to enroll your student(s) and please complete one per student.  The ASE teachers will send welcome notices to students in their enrichment class the evening of October 15th. These classes will begin on October 16th.

FOR SAFETY REASONS, NO STUDENTS WILL BE PERMITTED TO SIGN UP FOR ENRICHMENT ON THE FIRST DAY OF CLASS.  Late sign ups will open on Thursday, October 17th.

ASE Payment:  After completing this registration form, please remember to pay for the class.

JUST PAYING FOR ENRICHMENT DOES NOT ENROLL YOUR STUDENT IN AN ENRICHMENT CLASS! 


ATTENDANCE MATTERS
The first quarter of the year is already over and we are seeing an increase in the number of students with unexcused absences.  Unfortunately, these absences impact the student's success. as well as, effect the culture in the classroom.  The instruction that is delivered by certified teachers in classrooms every day cannot be replicated with replacement assignments.  The teacher's expertise is diagnosing learning gains and delivering lessons to accommodate specific needs is invaluable.  When students are absent, they lose ground academically and often feel disconnected to the learning and their classmates.  They sometimes need to relearn routines and procedures further slowing down their progress.  In addition, multiple absences teach them that school is optional, a difficult construct to unlearn.

Being in school every day and ready to learn (awake, fed, and with a good attitude) is one of the greatest predictors of academic success.  Please help us in valuing the importance of learning by ensuring that your child is present and on time as often as possible.  This supports your child, his/her teachers and the class as a whole.

 Volunteer Opportunity
I am in need of a few volunteers to help with vision screenings, transporting students to and from classrooms and organizing paperwork.  It will be Wednesday morning, 8:30-11am on October 23rd.
