SCS Re-Opening Plan
In an attempt to accommodate as many children as possible while maintaining the health/safety recommendations of the CDC and Department of Health, Sigsbee's reopening plan will include some significant changes to what you may be accustomed to. To explain the entire situation, I've created a video and will host a Q&A on Wednesday evening via Zoom.
BASIC OVERVIEW (12.5 minutes)- How is Sigsbee reopening?
ON CAMPUS LEARNING (10 minutes)- What should I expect if I intend to send my child to campus when it opens? This segment starts at 12:36
COMING SOON:
- Details about what Plan B looks like in each grade level
- Information about what happens if someone becomes ill
QUESTIONS?
Use this form to pose questions that Mrs. Jannes will answer at the Zoom meeting on Wednesday. There is a great deal of information in the video linked above. Please watch that and read the Reopening Plan before posing your questions. The form also asks for your input on some of the upcoming schedule decisions.
CALENDAR
Monday August 31st : Vulnerable populations will begin on-campus learning
Our special education teachers, speech/language pathologist, interventionists and English Language Learner coordinator contacted our most vulnerable populations to start offering services on campus this Monday. This will give us an opportunity to try out our health and safety procedures with a smaller population while providing support to some of our neediest students.
Tuesday, September 1st: Kindergarten Book Swap 10:30-11:30 and 3:00-4:00
Wednesday, September 8th: SCS Board of Directors Meeting to decide school reopening
Our Board is scheduled to meet on September 8th to ensure that the targeted health metrics have been met so that we can open to students during the week of September 14th.
We are currently very close to achieving these metrics so, we've begun planning for the return to school to begin on September 14th. You will be given an opportunity to decide again after this Wednesday's meeting should you want to change your initial decision. However, our plan is rooted in the results we received so I'm hoping there isn't a dramatic shift.
The decision you make will stay in effect until October 9th, the end of first quarter.
Monday, September 14th
First day back on campus should the Board approve reopening.
FACE MASKS
This is an excellent time to practice having your child wear a face mask, especially if you intend to send him/her to school on campus in September. Be sure that you have an adequate supply. They will need between 3-4 masks packed in their backpacks each day.
