SHIFTS IN SCHOOLING FOR QUARTER 2

The plan below is intended to give you a preview of what to expect when we invite more students to return to campus next week (October 26th).  This shift will occur if the Department of Health’s contact tracing investigation yields no further requirements for student or staff self-isolation based on our positive cases.

In the past weeks we have spent a great deal of time contacting families, rearranging classroom layouts, finding desks, reassigning staff, measuring spaces and revising schedules.  Your needs as a family and your student’s needs weigh heavily on us as we try to accommodate your requests while following the health and safety guidelines we know are keeping our campus as safe as possible during the unprecedented time.  Our campus is extremely tight and unable to accommodate all students with CDC guidelines in place.  However, because we still have a number of families willing/able to matriculate virtually, we can bring more students back on campus full-time starting next week.  As you can imagine, it will take some collaboration between home and school and a hefty helping of flexibility and perseverance.

Each classroom has had almost all furniture removed.  The spaces are filled with student seating with 6ft between each student.  We can accommodate up to 14 or 15 students in most classrooms.  While the rows of seats are a stark difference from what you are accustomed to seeing in our collaborative learning environments, the rooms are still welcoming and learning is still celebrated.  It is important to know though, this is not business as usual.

Children will be asked to remain masked at all times while in classrooms.  All foods will be consumed outside of the classroom whenever possible (ex.rainy day).  Please be sure your child is prepared to eat snacks and lunch outdoors.  You could also send out some good vibes for breezy and comfortable autumn/winter weather. 😉

We understand that this plan may not be something your family is comfortable with so we are keeping the virtual only option in every grade level.  There will be NO part time option at this time.  The elimination of the part time option will alleviate some additional pressures and workload from our teaching staff.  If, after reading this, you decide to shift from on campus learning to virtual, please go back and fill out the original survey with a new response.

Second Quarter Input Survey (use only if changing to virtual)

Please note that if you choose the virtual option your child will be in a virtual only class for the remainder of the 2nd quarter.

Cliff’s Notes:

  • 14 students seated in rows, mask on at all times in classrooms

  • Learning Options:  Virtual ONLY    or    In-person 5 days a week

  • You can move from in-person to virtual at this time.

  • Students choosing the virtual option will remain virtual until the end of the 2nd quarter.

  • Children are required to wear masks on campus.  Mask breaks will occur outside ONLY when physical distancing is possible.
